Date: 27 November 2018
Two years ago, the Ethiopia National Anti-Doping Office (ETH-NADO) was starting the Doping Control Program at the federal level with only 2 (two) Sample Collection Personnel which is a limited capacity to conduct the intended testing activities.
Therefore, the office is persistently working to overcome this shortage by strategically enhancing its internal capacity within a short period of time. 25 Doping Control Officers (DCOs) were certified through organizing frequent theoretical and practical trainings.
Currently, the third round training for Sample Collection Personnel (Trainees DCOs and Chaperons) is already started in Adama, Ras Hotel in which 18 experts are participating from all regional states and city administration. Because, the Ethiopia National Anti-Doping Office (ETH-NADO) has a plan to widen the coverage of both In-Competition and Out of Competition Testing to all regional states and city administration.
Finally, it is better to remind that the number of ETH-NADO’s Sample Collection Personnel has been increased from 2 to 43 and its capacity to conduct the doping control program is highly enhanced.
