Registered Testing Pool Procedures and CriteriaThe Registered Testing Pool is the group of some selected athletes established by the Ethiopia National Anti-Doping Organization (ETH-NADO) for the purpose of out of Competition Testing as part of itsTest Distribution Plan(TDP).As Per the International Standard for Testing and Investigation (ISTI), ETH-NADO is responsible for establishing and maintaining its Registered Testing Pool (RTP).
Some selected athletes who compete at a national and/or international level;and/or who compete in a sport with a higher doping risk;and athletes who are highly ranked in their sporting discipline shallalways been included in the ETH-NADO’s RTPbased on the criteria set out bellow. 1.Athlete current performance history,2.Athletes over which ETH-NADO has jurisdiction whom have been included in an international RTP,3.Some or all members of the national representative teams that qualified for the most recent World Championships,Olympics or other major games,4.Athletes who have achieved a significant and unexpected improvement in performance,5.Withdrawal or absence from expected competition,6.Additional athletes identified for target testing (e.g. athletes training with support personnel associated with doping practices and so on),7.Intelligence information or athletes for whom reliable information from a third party has indicated possible doping practices,8.Any Athletes who are returning from retirement and who are required to return to the ETH-NADO RTP pursuant to the World Anti-Doping Code (the “Code”) and International Standard for Testing and Investigation,9.Certain Athletes who are serving a period of ineligibility for an anti-doping rule violation and whom ETH-NADO determines must provide whereabouts in order to facilitate Out-of-Competition Testing.
When athletes once notified of their inclusion,they remain in the ETH-NADO’sRTP until they receive written notice as they have been removed from the RTP. Therefore, they must quarterly make whereabouts filings based on ETH-NADO Rule.Athletes can be includedor removed from the RTP at any time. Should an athlete’s status change, they will be notified prior to the start of the next whereabouts submission deadline.
